About Ben Connor

Ben has had a passion for sheep and all aspects agriculture from a young age. Growing up he assisted with a local Pedigree Southdown flock. This lead him to studying Agriculture at Plumpton College and subsequently achieving BSc(Hons) Agriculture at Harper Adams University. During his studies Ben has striven to gain as much practical experience as possible spending holidays and placement years working with and being mentored by a number of well established farmers. These have included flocks across the UK from northern Scotland to the South Coast, the largest, assisting lambing of 1700 early lambing ewes and 1300 later lambing ewes. From these experiences Ben has been able to expand his breadth of knowledge and use these skills in his own practice.

From 2019 - 2020 Ben spent the year working in New Zealand, travelling from the very south in Invercargill, working his way north to Auckland. During this time he was fortunate enough to be able to gain invaluable experience in outdoor lambing systems with Leon Black in Invercargill, as well as other influential lamb producers. Whilst working in New Zealand Ben developed his general agricultural skills in fencing, livestock handling systems and pasture management, which he implements in his own flock management as well as those of his clients back here in the UK.

Ben regularly attends livestock sales, including markets at Thrapston and Thame, as well as other breed shows and sales.

Ben is an active member of the National Sheep Association (NSA), Register of Sheep Advisors (RoSA) and Moredun Foundation.
